At least 20 deaths after church shooting outside San Antonio, Texas

HOUSTON, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- At least 20 people were shot dead Sunday in a church in Sutherland Springs, about 300 km west of Houston, Texas, according to local media reports.

Local TV KTRK channel quoted the Wilson County Sheriff's Office as reporting that at least 20 people are dead after a shooting at a house of worship in Sutherland Springs, about 35 km southeast of Downtown San Antonio.

Sheriff Joe Tackitt said a man walked into the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, and started shooting. about 20 people were killed in the attack, he said.

Sutherland Springs is an unincorporated community located on the old Spanish land grant of Manuel Tarin in northern Wilson County. According to the Handbook of Texas, the population was 362 in 2000.
