WASHINGTON, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- All of the U.S. Army and Navy's Cyber Mission Force teams achieved full operational capability about one month ago, almost a full year ahead of schedule, the U.S. Department of Defense said Thursday.
All 41 of the U.S. Army's Cyber Mission Force teams were validated by U.S. Cyber Command (Cybercom) on Sept. 28, while all 40 of the Navy's cyber teams were validated on Oct. 6.
"The full-operational-capability assessment means a unit has achieved all manning, capability and training requirements necessary as part of the Cyber Mission Force, to fully perform its assigned missions as validated by Cybercom," the U.S. Department of Defense said in a statement.
"It is not a measurement of overall combat readiness, ... but rather is an externally validated evaluation that the unit has met all of its capability requirements and that it performs its mission as designed."
Reaching the milestone represents a training throughput of more than 18,000 course completions, 1,800 personnel, and 2,000 hours of executing full-spectrum operations during certification and training events, the statement said.
The U.S. Cyber Mission Force included 133 teams -- 41 from the Army, 40 from the Navy, 13 from the Marine Corps and 39 from the Air Force.
Previously, the U.S. Department of Defense said all those teams are expected to be at full operational capability by Sept. 30, 2018.
