Memorial to victims of Russian airline crash opens in Leningrad region

ST. PETERSBURG, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- "Garden of Remembrance" memorial dedicated to 224 victims of Metrojet Flight 9268 air crash in 2015 was opened in Vsevolozhsk, the Leningrad region of Russia, on Tuesday.

The monument is a corridor of stone plates with the names of the victims and their birth years. The "Grove of Memory" is planted near the monument.

On Oct. 31, 2015, an Airbus A321-231 operating the Metrojet Flight 9268 flight from Sharm El Sheikh to St. Petersburg disintegrated above the northern Sinai. All 217 passengers and seven crew members on board were killed. The air crash was caused by a terrorist attack - an improvised bomb detonated during the flight.
