MADRID, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish National Police on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of a 34-year-old Moroccan man on suspicion of being a member of the Islamic State.

Abdeloyuahid Bourass, who was born in Morocco's northern city of Tetuan, was detained here after investigations into his "growing radicalization".

The police said Bourass was using a network of houses to avoid being tracked down. He allegedly used expressions such as "We have to go to war," "We will die as martyrs," and "We have been born into war and we are warriors."

The police said Bourass was arrested for posing a potential threat. His frequent change of address and telephone numbers and using the Internet anonymously gave credence to fears that he would carry out his threats.

The arrest brings the number of suspected jihadists detained in Spain to 251 since the crackdown started in 2015.
