BARCELONA, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish Civil Guard on Tuesday raided at least six offices of the Catalan regional police force, the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Spanish media reported.

They were apparently looking for recordings made on Oct. 1, the day the Catalan independence referendum was held despite being declared illegal by the Spanish Constitutional Court.

One of the offices they searched was in Girona city, the control room for all police patrols and also where all police radio conversations are stored.

Josep Lluis Trapero, former chief of the Catalan police force, is being investigated for possible sedition after allegations that the Mossos didn't take any action during the referendum.

Trapero is also under investigation for an incident on Sept. 20, when the Civil Guard forces were unable to leave the offices of the Catalan Economy Ministry for hours after they detained Catalan Economy Secretary Josep Maria Jove due to thousands of people gathering at the site. The crowd also caused minor damage to Civil Guard vehicles parked outside.

The Catalan police force had argued that dispersing the crowd, that was mostly peaceful, would have caused more problems.
