LONDON, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Seven members of the same family are feared dead after a huge fire ripped through their farmhouse and burnt it to the ground while they were asleep, English tabloid Daily Mail reported Monday.

The blaze ripped through the home in Llangammarch Wells in Powys, Wales where it's understood a couple lived with their eight children, the newspaper said on its website.

Police confirmed three children aged 13, 12 and 10 were able to escape when the remote property caught fire in the early hours of the morning.

Firemen, police and forensic scientists were searching through the remains of the farmhouse looking for bodies.

A spokesman for the police said there were numerous fatalities but the exact number was unknown.

Aerial images of the house show the roof completely caved in and rubble lying inside.

It was reported that emergency services were called to the farm shortly after midnight.
