BERLIN, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Struggling Werder Bremen have parted company with head coach Alexander Nouri, the Bundesliga club announced in an official statement on Monday.

The "Green-Whites" 3-0 defeat to Augsburg sealed Alexander Nouri's dismissal as Werder Bremen suffered their fifth loss of the season, which is an overall club-record of 13 matches without a win since last season.

"Alexander took over in a very difficult situation last season and successfully mastered it. We would like to thank him for that. He brings everything a successful coach needs. I am sure that he will continue his path successfully elsewhere," Bremen's sporting director Frank Baumann said.

After the dismissal of former head coach Viktor Skripnik, Nouri took the helm in September 2016 as an interims coach before he was promoted as Bremen's head coach in October.

However, under Nouri Werder Bremen wait for their first three points after ten rounds in the current Bundesliga season. Hence, the "Werderaner", who secured their last win in April, slumped to the next-to-last position with five points from ten matches.

For the moment, Under-23 coach Florian Kohfeldt, co-assistant Thomas Horsch and Under-17 coach Tim Borowski will take over to prepare the team for the Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Werder Bremen sit currently on the 17th place in the standings. They clash with 10th placed Eintracht Franfkurt at the 11th round in Bundesliga on Friday. Enditem
