Myanmar's trade deficit reaches over 2.3 bln USD in 7 months of FY 2017-2018

YANGON, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar saw trade deficit of over 2.32 billion U.S. dollars as of Oct. 20 in the fiscal year 2017-2018, which began in April, with an increase of 445 million U.S. dollars compared to the same period of FY 2016-2017, official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Monday.

During the period, the country's foreign trade amounted to 17.58 billion U.S. dollars.

The country's import value amounted to 8.3 billion dollars while its export value was 6.42 billion dollars, resulting in a trade deficit of over 1.8 billion U.S. dollars during the same period of FY 2016-2017, according to the figures from the Ministry of Commerce.

A total trade deficit of the country was over 5.5 billion dollars in the last whole FY 2016-2017.
