MINSK, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- The number of ceasefire violations in east Ukraine is increasing, said Martin Sajdik, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE)'s special representative in the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine on Friday.

After the meeting of the contact group in Minsk, Sajdik said that at the beginning of the week the number of ceasefire violations significantly increased, especially in the area of Avdeyevka, Yasinovataya, and the Donetsk airport.

"The current issue of the ceasefire regime has become a priority for the subgroup on security affairs and the entire trilateral contact group on Ukraine," he said.

Sajdik urged the parties to personally confirm their commitment to the truce that was declared by the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine on the occasion of the beginning of the academic year.

"I call for the return to the earlier commitments to withdraw heavy weapons, as well as to ensure the uninterrupted and safe entry of the OSCE special monitoring mission into the entire conflict zone," he added.

The next meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine will be held on Nov. 15.

The trilateral contact group is a group of representatives from Ukraine, Russia and OSCE that was formed as means to facilitate a diplomatic resolution to the war in the Donbas region.
