TEHRAN, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Iran has rejected a recent report by the UN rights rapporteur as "distorted," Press TV reported on Friday.

On Wednesday, Asma Jahangir, the UN special rapporteur on the Iran human rights situation, released a report alleging harassment and torture of journalists in Iran.

In a reaction, Hassan Nejad, Iran's envoy to the UN Human Rights Council, said Thursday that Jahangir's report had portrayed "a flawed and distorted image" of Iran.

The report has turned a blind eye to illegal and unilateral U.S. sanctions against the Iranians, Nejad said.

"The only determining power for support of human rights in Iran is the Iranians themselves and there is no room for outsiders," he was quoted as saying.
