SEOUL, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Confidence among South Korean consumers over economic situation rebounded in three months amid eased geopolitical risks on the Korean Peninsula, central bank data showed Friday.

The composite consumer sentiment index (CCSI) stood at 109.2 in October, up 1.5 points from the previous month, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK). The result was based on a survey of 2,020 households conducted from Oct. 13 to Oct. 20.

It was the first increase in three months as tensions eased on the peninsula. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) conducted no provocation following the launch on Sept. 15 of an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) over Japan.

The consumer sentiment worsened in August and September after the DPRK test-fired two ballistic missiles with an intercontinental capability in July and conducted its sixth nuclear test in early September.

Sub-indices gained ground. The CSI for current economic situations gained 4 points to 91, with the figure for future economic conditions adding 3 points to 99.

Inflation expectations, which reflect outlook for headline inflation in the next 12 months, came in at 2.6 percent this month, unchanged from the previous month.
