RECIFE, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Midfielder Yony Gonzalez scored two second-half goals as Colombia's Junior de Barranquilla secured a 2-0 away victory over Brazil's Sport Recife in their Copa Sudamericana quarterfinal first leg.

Gonzales broke the deadlock in the 71st minute at Ilha do Retiro on Thursday by firing in from close range after Matias Mier's assist.

The visitors doubled their advantage four minutes from time when the 23-year-old again struck from within the six-yard box after a Jesus Murillo pass.

The decisive return leg will be played at Junior's Estadio Metropolitano on November 2.

The winner of the Copa Sudamericana earns the right to play in next year's Copa Libertadores, South America's top club competition.
