BERLIN, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Fijian government and Deutsche Post launched their official partnership Wednesday, two weeks before the start of the 23rd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP23) to the UN Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Bonn, Germany.

The "rhythm of the past is used to create resource-friendly solutions," as Deutsche Post unveils a traditional canoe - drua - that was shipped to Bonn in a carbon neutral manner, Peniana Lalabalavu, chief coordinator of COP told the press.

The COP23 will be organized by Fiji, hosted at the headquarters of the UNFCCC in Bonn, and the Fijian government hopes to "fill the sail of this canoe with a collective determination to move the climate action agenda forward," Lalabalavu said.

In line with the goal of keeping a global temperature rise this century well below 2 degrees Celsius established at the 2015 UN Paris Climate Conference (COP21), Deutsche Post DHL Group has been seeking to reduce all transport-related emissions to net zero by 2050.

According to the company, it was the first global logistics service provider with a quantified CO2 efficiency target, or as Christof Ehrhart, executive vice president of German Corporate Communications, puts it "climate change has come home."

The COP23 will take place on November 6-17, expecting more than 20,000 guests from around the world to join the summit in Germany.
