BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese edition of "Melayu Islam Beraja: Suatu Pendekatan" (Malay Islamic Monarchy: A Closer Understanding) was officially launched on Wednesday, in conjunction with the golden jubilee celebration of Brunei's Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah's accession to the throne.

The book, which was originally written by Haji Mohd Zain, former Minister of Religious Affairs, took seven months to translate into Chinese, by a 16-member team.

Ong Tiong Oh, member of Brunei's Legislative Council and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Chung Hwa Middle School, said that the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) Supreme Council had been requesting for a Chinese-language edition since 2014, so that the local Chinese community could gain a further understanding of the Malay language, religion, and customs, in addition to complying with all national laws and policies.

A total of 3,000 standard-sized copies, 300 hard-cover copies, and 200 big-sized copies of the book will be available for purchase at the Chung Hwa Middle School after the launch.
