TOKYO, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks edged higher Wednesday morning as Wall Street's advance overnight set a positive tone with a comparatively weak yen against the U.S. dollar also adding support.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 25.61 points, or 0.12 percent, from Tuesday to 21,830.78.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 1.76 points, or 0.10 percent, at 1,758.68.
Bank, insurance and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
