JOHANNESBURG, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- South Africa's marketing company, Brand South Africa, is reaching out to compatriots across the globe to help the country realize its dream.

An initiative, Global South Africans (GSA), asks South Africans overseas to sell the country to the world and raise the country's flag in their host countries.

South Africans abroad are expected to tell the world about what the country can offer in tourism, Ubuntu (humanity), and potential. They are also expected to conduct themselves well and not discredit the country.

Judy Smith-Höhn, Brand South Africa's general manager for global markets, told Xinhua that they are making inroads into various parts of the world.

There are many South Africans living aboard who are willing to help fly the country's flag high in markets like Britain, Australia, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and the Netherlands, she said.

The initiative is to "help realize the promise South Africa demonstrated in the 'miracle' of 1994 and reaffirm with our successful hosting of the 2010 Soccer World Cup," Smith-Höhn said.

"South Africans living or travelling abroad will very often be the first point of contact and reference for people overseas whose judgments and decisions have a profound impact on the fortunes of our country," she said.

"Global South Africans can show the world what South Africans are made of, why we are worth investing in and partnering with and how we can help find creative solutions to the gamut of the world's problems," Smith-Höhn said.
