TOKYO, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally lower Tuesday as investors opted to lock in gains following the markets record 15-day winning streak, while a drop in U.S. shares also prompted selling.

As of 9:15 a.m. here, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 40.77 points, or 0.19 percent, from Monday to 21,655.88.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 0.52 point, or 0.03 percent, to 1,744.73.

Rubber product, securities and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that retreated the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
