Dollar drops to upper 111 yen zone on low U.S. inflation data

TOKYO, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell to the upper 111 yen zone Monday in Tokyo on the weaker-than-expected U.S. consumer price index for September released last week.

At 5:00 p.m. local time, the dollar was quoted at 111.72-73 yen compared with 111.81-91 yen in New York and 112.00-01 yen in Tokyo at 5:00 p.m. Friday. It moved between 111.66 yen and 112.08 yen during the day.

The euro fetched 1.1793-1795 dollars and 131.75-79 yen against 1.1819-1829 dollars and 132.16-26 yen in New York and 1.1828-1830 dollars and 132.48-52 yen in Tokyo late Friday afternoon.
