HANOI, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam annually spots some 11,000 breast cancer cases, and sees 5,000 fatalities caused by the disease, according to a Vietnamese major hospital specialized in treating cancer patients on Monday.

For every 100,000 Vietnamese women in 2000, some 18 had breast cancer, and the figure in 2010 was 30, Hanoi-based K Hospital said, adding that more and more young women are contracting the disease.

Vietnam detects some 126,000 sufferers from cancer of various kinds, and witnesses 94,000 deaths caused by the diseases each year, according to statistics from the country's Health Ministry.

According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology, a made-in-Vietnam drug named Pegfilgrastim is expected to hit the market in 2018, helping lower cancer treatment costs by 60 percent.
