NAIROBI, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Kenya on Saturday named a squad of four players to represent the country at the 25th World Men's Team Squash Championships scheduled for Nov. 27 to Dec. 3 in Marseille, France.

Chirag Shah, Bruce Jusa, James Dalidi and Muqtadir Nimji made it to the national team out of the 10 players who paraded for the two-week national trials in search of players to carry the Kenyan flag to the biennial event.

"All the 10 players who entered for the trials were enjoying top form and any of them could have made it to the team. However, after the two rounds of competitions where each player played against another, the four players emerged the best," Kenya Squash and Rackets Secretary General, Leon Keya, told Xinhua.

The World Squash Federation awarded Marseille the rights to host the event after the 2015 championships that were due to be staged in Egypt were postponed owing to the political climate in the North African country.

It will be the 2013 champions England that will defend the title during the competition that will feature 28 nations.

Squash has been on the rise in Kenya, but like other sports in the country, its growth is curtailed by inadequate funding.

There are no public courts and the existing facilities are located at members' clubs and in schools thereby effectively cutting out a large segment of the Kenyan society from the game.
