LJUBLJANA, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- A public poll conducted by the influential Italian agency Episcenter has seen incumbent President Borut Pahor winning the election in the first round with 55.5 percent of the vote, the Slovenian Press Agency (STA) reported on Friday.
The poll was published by the public broadcaster RTV Slovenija just a week ahead of the blackout before the Oct. 22 presidential election.
Pahor is followed by Kamnik Mayor Marjan Sarec with 21.2 percent of the vote and opposition New Slovenia (NSi) leader Ljudmila Novak with 8.2 percent, according to the poll published on Friday.
In a potential run-off between Pahor and Sarec, the incumbent president would win convincingly with 67.6 percent of the vote, against Sarec's 32.4 percent.
The survey was conducted between Oct. 5 and 13 among 1,521 respondents, with 837 saying they would go to the polls.
