BUCHAREST, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Romanian Prime Minister Mihai Tudose said on Friday that he would present to President Klaus Iohannis the new proposals for ministers on Monday.

Tudose made the announcement at the end of a National Executive Committee meeting of the main ruling Social Democratic Party.

The meeting of the top committee approved the nominations for the offices of ministers -- Paul Stanescu to the Ministry of Development, who will be also deputy Prime Minister, Felix Stroe to the Ministry of Transport and Marius Nica to the European Funds Ministry, announced Social Democrat Senator Adrian Tutuianu.

The Social Democratic Party announced late Thursday to make a major reorganization of the current government, after three cabinet members had maintained their decision to resign.

The decision showed that the prime minister's request for reshuffle has been met, despite the great resistance within the main ruling party.

The discord between the prime minister and his party leader Liviu Dragnea became apparent after the former announced Monday evening at a private television station that he will ask five cabinet members to leave, three of them are targeted by corruption investigations of the National Anticorruption Directorate, while the other two because of their "underperformance."

The head of government said at the same time that his relationship with the party leader is not "in a happy moment," mentioning his dissatisfaction over the party's involvement in certain cabinet decisions.

He also said that he considered resigning if the party leadership would refuse the reshuffle.

However, it now appears that the two sides finally made a compromise, and only three cabinet members will be replaced.

Minister for the relation with the Parliament Viorel Ilie, also targeted by the National Anticorruption Directorate, will probably remain in his post, as his party, the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats, junior in ruling coalition, maintains its political support for him.

Alliance Chairman Calin-Popescu Tariceanu stated that his party does not agree with his resignation or removal based on a motivation related to a National Anticorruption Directorate investigation.

The cabinet reshuffle will temporarily ease the tensions between the prime minister and the party's leaders, but local analysts generally believed that the prime minister will continue to argue for greater government decision-making power, that is to say, that the struggle within the ruling party will continue.
