DUBAI, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday accused Qatar of denying allegations against it and pretending to be a victim.

Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, discussed in Abu Dhabi with Bertrand Besancenaut, the French president's envoy to the Gulf, on the latest development of the Qatari crisis, state news agency WAM reported.

"Denial policy and image of a victim are not convincing considering Doha's documented policies," the UAE official was quoted as saying.

During the meeting, the foreign minister explained to the French envoy "the clear position of the state that Qatar must stop supporting extremism and terrorism and undermining the security and stability of its neighbors and the surrounding region."

Qatar needs to make a comprehensive review of its policies, which have led to its isolation and ruined its international reputation due to links to extremism and terrorism, he added.

Gargash reiterated that the anti-Qatar Arab quartet including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt "have made clear their position."

The Saudi-led quartet cut diplomatic ties with Qatar on June 5 and has imposed air, sea and land blockade against the tiny gas-rich Gulf state, citing Doha's support for terrorism and extremism.

Qatar has strongly denied these charges and has been seeking diplomatic and economic support from Turkey and Iran, Saudi's arch rival, to break the blockade.
