NAIROBI, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- The following are the news highlights in Kenyan media outlets on Thursday.

-- The electoral commission will likely invite all eight candidates who took part in the Aug. 8 presidential election to participate in the fresh poll. It will also maintain the Oct. 26 election date, according to a draft statement from the commission.

Opposition candidate Raila Odinga, who had written to the electoral commission quitting the race on Tuesday, has effectively been put back on the ballot. He will now need to formally exit the race by filling Form 24A, a process his party considers unnecessary but that they might have to go through to remove him from the election. (Daily Nation)
