GAZA, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Israeli forces on Wednesday fired several shells on an area at the edge of Gaza Strip, but no casualties were caused, Palestinian sources said.

The same area was targeted by Israeli shelling two days ago, said the sources.

The shelling targeted a "monitoring station" that belongs to Islamic Hamas movement's military wing Al-Qassam brigades, the sources said.

Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee said in a tweet that an Israeli patrol "observed" shooting on the security barrier with Gaza Strip, but no injuries or damages were reported.

A ceasefire deal was reached between Israel and Hamas in August 2014, ending a 50-day conflict that left over 2,000 Palestinians dead and 10,000 others injured.
