TRIPOLI, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Libya's UN-backed Prime Minister Fayez Serraj called on Germany on Tuesday to speed up the execution of services and infrastructure programs agreed upon in previous meetings.

Serraj made the remarks during a meeting with the German Ambassador to Libya Christian Buck, when the two officials discussed mutual cooperation and Libya's current political situation.

Serraj praised "Germany's support for the government of national accord and consensus in Libya," said the prime minister's media office.

He also reiterated support for "any political path that leads to presidential and parliamentary elections," voicing against "those who obstruct such path."

Buck renewed his country's support for the Serraj's unity government and the road map proposed by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Libya, Ghassan Salame.

Buck also stressed Germany's keenness to develop bilateral relations and cooperation with Libya, in order to help end Libya's current crisis, the office said.

Salame on Sept. 20 proposed a new action plan that aims to end Libya's political stalemate. The plan includes amendment of the current UN-sponsored political agreement, holding a UN-sponsored national conference for all of Libya's political factions, adopting a constitution, and finally election of a president and a parliament.

Serraj's government has been appointed based on a UN-sponsored political agreement signed in 2015 by the country's political rivals. However, Libya remains politically divided amid insecurity and chaos.
