HO CHI MINH CITY, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- The 2017 Asian Women's Boxing Championship will take place here from Nov. 2-10 with the expected participation of 120 boxers from 20 countries and regions, the Vietnam Boxing Federation said Tuesday.

The championship and similar tournaments will help Vietnamese boxers better their skills and spirit and look forward to bigger events such as ASIAD and Olympic.

Now, Vietnam's leading women boxers include Luu Thi Duyen, Le Thi Bang and Ha Thi Linh. At the 2015 Asian Women's Boxing Championship in China, Ha Thi Linh won a bronze medal.

At the coming championship, Vietnamese athletes will have to compete with many strong foreign rivals, including Mary Kom, a five-time World Amateur Boxing champion, and the only Indian woman boxer to have qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, said the association.
