BERLIN, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party could receive up to 400 million euros (471.7 million U.S. dollars) in public funds for its parliamentary work, according to calculations using public available government data published by Rheinische Post on Tuesday.

The AfD's 92 new delegates in the Federal Parliament (Bundestag) are due to receive over 38 million euros per year in funds alone to support their legislative work, on top of 18 million euros for the party itself.

The AfD already receives around 36 million euros annually from taxpayers for its representation in several regional assemblies throughout Germany. Should the party enter further state parliaments in Lower Saxony, Bavaria and Hesse, in line with current opinion polls, the total figure for public funds received would reach up to 400 million euros by 2021, the newspaper said.

By contrast, the level of governmental party financing which the party could expect after its recent electoral success was comparatively low at an additional 6 million euros.

The AfD achieved 12.6 percent of the vote in national election on Sept. 24, entering the Federal Parliament for the first time. (1 euro=1.178 U.S. dollar)
