VIENNA, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Austrian exports are on track to hit a record high in 2017 following a promising year so far, the head of the Austrian Economic Chambers (WKO), Christoph Leitl, said on Monday.

Leitl made the comments in a press release in light of new Statistics Austria figures that show an export boost of 7.9 percent for the first seven months of the year, which has taken the export total for that period to 82.32 billion euros (96.75 billion U.S. dollars).

"After the very challenging export situation in 2016, we are heading for an all-time-high in exports for the full year of 2017," he said.

He added that companies need "a good framework to secure this path of success for the future as well."

The Statistics Austria figures showed an export increase of 8.3 percent to other European Union member states, while a 6.3 percent increase was recorded to countries outside the union.

The WKO also expressed its delight that domestic exports improved to all major regions of the world.
