RABAT, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will pay an official visit to Morocco on Wednesday to strengthen bilateral ties, to boost economic cooperation in particular, local media reported on Sunday.
Citing official source at Morocco's foreign ministry, the financial news site LesEco.ma said the talks between Medvedev and Moroccan officials would focus on boosting economic cooperation, especially in agriculture and energy.
The same source said that Morocco aimed to become the first Arab and African exporter of agricultural products to Russia.
As for energy, the news site said that negotiations were underway to support Morocco's leading gas projects, including the Moroccan-Nigerian gas pipeline.
Moroccan-Russian relations have witnessed substantial development in the past few years. According to official statistics, bilateral trade increased by 27.3 percent in 2016 to reach 1.3 billion U.S. dollars.
