ROME, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Italian police arrested a brother of Ahmed Hanachi, the Tunisian national who stabbed to death two women in Marseille of France on Oct. 1, local media reported Sunday.

The attacker's brother, Anis Hanachi, was arrested Saturday night in Ferrara, a northern Italian city, after French authorities issued an international arrest warrant, Italian police confirmed.

Local police said Anis Hanachi is accused of being complicit in his brother's attack and of joining in a terrorist organization.

Ahmed Hanachi, the 29-year-old knife attacker, killed two cousins on Oct. 1 at Marseille Saint-Charles train station and was shot dead by anti-terror troops.

The police found that Ahmed Hanachi used to marry an Italian in Aprilia, a small town in south of Rome in 2008, and was registered as local resident in the town between 2010 and 2017. During his stay in Italy, he was arrested once for drugs and once for theft, Italian police record shows.
