LONDON, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.54 percent, or 40.41 points, to close at 7,507.99 points.
Merlin Entertainments, a European entertainment company, soared 3.43 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Anglo American and Glencore increased by 3.04 percent and 3.03 percent respectively.
Smurfit Kappa Group, a paper products manufacturer, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 1.34 percent. G4S, a British multinational security services company, dropped 1.28 percent, and Barclays, a British multinational bank, fell 1.14 percent. Enditem
