SAN CRISTOBAL, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela will try to frustrate Uruguay's hopes of securing a berth in next year's World Cup when the teams meet in San Cristobal on Thursday, according to Vinotinto coach Rafael Dudamel.

Uruguay will be guaranteed of a direct qualifying berth if they win the match at Estadio Pueblo Nuevo while Venezuela, last in the South American zone standings, will be playing only for pride.

But draws against Colombia and Argentina in their last qualifiers proved that the Vinotinto can trouble the region's best team's, according to Dudamel.

"We'll be trying to maintain the level that we showed in the last double header," he told reporters. "We are growing as a team and we will face Uruguay with the belief that we can win."

Venezuela, who have just eight points from 16 matches, will play their last qualifier in Paraguay next Tuesday.
