Jordan voices support for Palestinian reconciliation efforts

AMMAN, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Tuesday stressed on its support for Palestinian reconciliation efforts, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi discussed by phone with his Palestinian counterpart Riad Maliki efforts to revive peace talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis on the basis of the two-state solution.

The two ministers underlined keenness to continue efforts to revive peace talks leading to the creation of an independent Palestinian state at the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Maliki briefed Safadi on efforts to realize reconciliation among the Palestinian factions after the Palestinian government held a meeting in Gaza Strip on Tuesday with Hamas movement.

Safadi stressed Jordan's support to the Palestinian legitimacy represented by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
