RABAT, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Morocco and Spain vowed here on Tuesday to further strengthen trade ties after a meeting of senior officials from both sides.

The Moroccan Minister of Economy and Finance Mohamed Boussaid hailed in a statement the steady development of the bilateral trade relations after meeting with Spanish Secretary Minister for Trade Maria Luisa Poncela.

Boussaid called for more cooperation to overcome obstacles hindering trade ties, while Poncela said the economic policies adopted by the two countries have further enhanced economic cooperation.

The meeting was an opportunity to examine the level of bilateral trade ties, Poncela said, praising their constant rise.

Spain is Morocco's largest trade partner. The bilateral trade volume increased to 14 billion U.S. dollars in 2016.
