DUBLIN, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Ryanair, Europe's leading low-cost airline, said on Tuesday it has seen a 10-percent growth in the number of passengers it carried in September, despite the airline canceling thousands of flights.
The Dublin-based airline said it carried 11.8 million customers in September, up from 10.8 million the same time last year.
Ryanair said its load factor -- how many seats it fills on each flight -- rose 2 percent points to 97 percent.
"These figures include the 2,100 flight cancellations announced for September and October. We have now refunded/re-accommodated 98 percent of customers who were impacted in September and October," Ryanair's chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs said.
Last week, Ryanair cancelled an extra 18,000 flights for the winter season, a move that will hit 400,000 customers.
But the airline said it has agreed to implement a series of measures to ensure all passengers affected by recent flight cancellations are fully aware of their rights and entitlements.
It said its measures will include full refunds, or re-accommodation onto other Ryanair flights or other comparable transport options with reimbursement of reasonable out of pocket expenses.
