Macao authorities pay close attention to gaming venue security

MACAO, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Macao authorities paid close attention to the shooting that occurred at a concert during a music festival in Las Vegas in the United States, and beefed up security measures in gaming facilities, the special administrative region (SAR)'s gaming watchdog said on Tuesday.

The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau of Macao said after the Las Vegas shooting, it has immediately contact the six major gaming enterprises and asked them to keep alert and beef up security measures in gaming venues.

The bureau also decided to hold a meeting with those companies to discuss the matter after the National Day holiday.

It added that the SAR government has been constantly paying attention to security in Macao's gaming and entertainment facilities.

The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau will keep reviewing the security measures and improving its inspection work.

Macao's Tourism Crisis Management Office said it also paid close attention to the Las Vegas shooting. According to the information it gathered from Macao's travel industry, currently no requests for assistance were received from Macao residents in the United States.
