TOKYO, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were mixed in early trade, with buying supported by U.S. shares advancing at the end of last week.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 19.67 points, or 0.10 percent, from Friday to 20,375.95.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 0.48 point, or 0.03 percent, at 1,674.27.
Metal product, precision instrument, and electric power and gas-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
