TIRANA, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- A joint Albanian-Czech expedition has been launched with the aim to identify the Austro-Hungarian submarines that sank in Albanian waters during the First World War, Albanian National Coastal Agency said Saturday.

Auron Tare, head of the coastal agency, told reporters that the joint expedition is going to identify a SM U-16 submarine, a U-10 class submarine or U-boat, sunk on Oct. 17, 1916.

According to the director, the shipwrecks found so far and discoveries made three years ago by an Albanian-American joint expedition belong to the same submarine.

Meanwhile, an utter professional expedition is undertaken which is being assisted by photos and blueprints of the submarine from the German war archive," Tare declared.
