Canada win Longines FEI Nations Cup final qualifier

BARCELONA, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Canada won the first round of the Longines FEI Nations Cup jumping final with flawless performances from three riders at the Royal Polo Club here on Thursday.

The Canadians were the only squad to complete three perfect rounds from Yann Candele with Theodore Manciais, Tiffany Foster with Tripple X III and Eric Lamaze with Coco Bongo.

The Netherlands finished second and the United States took third.

The top eight finishers qualify for the final to be held on Saturday night. The other five teams that booked a final berth are defending champions Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium and Sweden.

Ireland, who received the same penalties as Belgium and Sweden, had to settled for the ninth due to time and will compete in Friday's Challenge Cup with Italy, Britain, New Zealand, Brazil, UAE and Spain. Enditem
