Military authorities neutralize improvised explosive device in Liege, Belgium

BRUSSELS, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- An improvised explosive device has been neutralized by the military in Herstal, Liege province, the easternmost province of Wallonia and Belgium, reported local media on Thursday afternoon.

The SEDEE -- military unit in charge of mine-clearing -- was sent to the Zeebrugge Forges in the early Friday morning after the discovery by workers of an explosive device composed of gaz tanks.

The federal police laboratories also went to the scene to analyze the situation and have confirmed that the device was a homemade bomb. Herstal's mayor also confirmed the information, precising that the bomb could not make significant damage.

The local media Sudpresse also indicated that the Zeebrugge Forges are one of the most important places in the world for the conception of military devices. The situation is now under control and all danger has been avoided.
