Indian Air Force aircraft crashes in Telangana

NEW DELHI, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- An aircraft belonging to the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed Thursday in southern Indian state of Telangana, police said.

No loss of life was reported in the crash as police said the pilot ejected safely minutes before the crash.

The helicopter crashed in Keesara village near Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana.

"Following pilot ejected from the aircraft, he contacted IAF officials informing them about the crash," a police official said.

Television images show flames rising from the wreckage of crashed aircraft lying on ground in vegetation.

The reason behind the incident was being ascertained. Reports said the aircraft took off from Hakimpet training academy in Hyderabad and was going to Keesra on a training sortie.
