Tokyo stocks open higher on U.S. shares' advance, weak yen

TOKYO, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Thursday tracking gains on Wall Street overnight and the U.S. dollar's rise after U.S. President Donald Trump proposed cutting corporate tax to 20 percent in a U.S. tax overhaul.

As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 102.60 points, or 0.51 percent, from Wednesday to 20,369.65.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 6.51 points, or 0.39 percent, to 1,670.94.

Insurance, metal product and bank-linked issues gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
