Vietnam's southern stock market ends down

HO CHI MINH CITY, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 803.77 points on Wednesday, down 1.58 points, or 0.2 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

About 157.399 million shares worth 3.389 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (150.89 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 112 stocks went up, 149 stocks fell down, while 57 stocks remained unchanged.

VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 788.31 points, down 2.74 points or 0.35 percent.

A total of 39.535 million shares worth 1.658 trillion VND (73.81 million U.S. dollars) were traded on Wednesday.
