KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) decided to fine Shanghai SIPG head coach Andre Villas-Boas for his post-match comments after the recent AFC Champion League quarterfinals.

AFC said in a statement on Tuesday that its Disciplinary and Ethics Committee decided to fine the Portuguese for his offensive words at the referee and comments made at the post-match press conference.

Villas-Boas was found in breach the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Code for "bringing the game into disrepute" and was fined 14,000 U.S. dollar, the Asian football government body said, warning that "a repeat infringement will lead to a more severe punishment".

Shanghai SIPG entered the second-leg of AFC Champion League quarterfinals with a 4-0 advantage against two-time champions Guangzhou Evergrande. Host Evergrande made a stunning performance to score four times to make 4-4 on aggregation.

Shanghai SIPG finally entered the semifinals with a penalty shootout win. But Villas-Boas drew controversy after he blasted the AFC at the post-match press conference.
