YANGON, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Some 26 houses, left by local displaced villagers, caught fire over the last two days in Maungtaw, Myanmar's Rakhine state, said the government's Information Committee Monday afternoon.

The houses, which were suspected of being set on fire, covered those in five villages in Maungtaw.

The security forces began to investigate into the arson case, the report said.

Last Friday, a home-made mine planted by extremist terrorists was set to explode inside the compound of a mosque in Buthidaung, as Muslims were attending a morning praying ceremony, it added.

Meanwhile, dead bodies of 28 missing Hindu including 20 females were found buried in the earth pit in Yebawkya village in Maungtaw as the authorities searched and dug up the earth Sunday to confirm the information provided by a villager in Sittway, according to Monday's official report.

According to the information, the victims were left by attacks on the village on Aug. 25 by about 300 members of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army extremist terrorists.

Investigation is also underway with increased search continuing, the report added.
