GAZA, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) called Sunday on the consensus government of Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah to start immediate, direct and full operation in the Gaza Strip.

The call was made during a meeting of the PLO executive committee chaired by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at his headquarters in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

"The consensus government is called to bear its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip in accordance to the law and without any obstacles," said an official statement issued after the meeting.

The Gaza Strip has been under the ruling of Islamic Hamas movement since 2007, when the movement had violently seized control of the territory following weeks of internal fighting with Abbas and his Fatah movement's militants.

"The PLO highly appreciates Egypt's role of boosting unity, achieving reconciliation, ending internal division and regaining the unity of the Palestinian political program," said the statement.

The PLO also welcomed last week's declaration of Hamas in Cairo to dissolve the controversial Administrative Committee that Hamas formed last year to run the daily affairs of more than 2 million people in the enclave.

Meanwhile, the PLO warned the Israeli government of neglecting the will of the international community and the international laws, conventions and resolutions related to the Palestinian cause.

The PLO also decided to transfer the Israeli settlement file, considering it as a crime, to the International Criminal Court.
