WASHINGTON, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- A suspect has been taken into custody after multiple people were shot on Sunday at a church in the southern U.S. state of Tennessee, police said.
The shooting occurred at the Burnette Chapel Church in Antioch and outside of Nashville, Nashville police said.
At least six to eight people were injured and rushed to hospital, Joseph Pleasant, a spokesman for the Nashville fire department, told the Tennessean, part of USA Today Network.
Pleasant said he did not know the severity of the injuries.
Police began receiving calls at around 11:15 a.m. local time, reporting that multiple shots were fired with people shot at the church, according to a dispatcher.
The church's weekly service starts at 10:00 a.m.
