BEIJING, Sept. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- Those who visit Beijing in this autumn are lucky because they could have a chance to see some rare ancient artworks in a series of major exhibitions organized by the Palace Museum.

In September, seven major exhibitions are held in the Palace Museum to display precious collection items.

The items will allow visitors to explore history of the Chinese artworks better, said Shan Jixiang, curator of the museum.

The major exhibits include Chinese ancient paintings, calligraphic works by cultural celebrities and imperial porcelain items of Ming dynasty(1368-1644).

Among them is the famous 11.9-meter long painting scroll by Wang Ximeng of the Northern Song dynasty (960-1127).

This painting, A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains, is a blue-green Chinese landscape piece, featuring a splendid scenery of rolling mountains and gentle rivers using traditional painting techniques and in a distinct style.

Another is a stunning collection of special deer-themed artifacts.

Raising deer was once a long tradition for the Chinese imperial families in history.

To give visitors a closer look and feel of the historical life and culture, the museum plans to introduce nine deer to the Imperial Garden in the museum soon.
