Fortune to bring world's business leaders to Guangzhou, China

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Fortune, a business magazine owned by Time Inc., said Thursday that some of the world's most prominent business leaders will attend the 2017 Fortune Global Forum and the Fortune Brainstorm Tech International.

The Fortune forum is scheduled for Dec. 6-8 and the brainstorm Dec. 5- 6 both in Guangzhou, the provincial capital of Guangdong, in southern China.

The announcement as a team of officials from Guangzhou were in San Francisco to promote the city, and to invite business leaders and innovators to the events.

Confirmed speakers for the Fortune forum include chief executive officers (CEOs) of Global 500 companies as well as CEOs of China's large tech companies.

The three-day event will be the 15th Fortune Global Forum and the fifth one held in China.

As a new conference, Fortune Brainstorm Tech International will convene leaders in the innovation economy space. It will tap into the strength of Fortune's U.S.-based Brainstorm Tech conference, which for the past 16 summers has brought together leaders in tech, media, entertainment, and finance in Aspen in the U.S. state of Colorado.

The two-day event will explore the innovation revolution unfolding in China, including homegrown innovation and mass implementation in fields such as artificial intelligence, social media, biotech, fintech, virtual reality, automotive, the sharing economy, and mobile platforms.

The event is expected to bring together some of China's most promising start-up companies and emerging tech stars as well as innovators from around the world.

"We're excited to bring together the world's top business and technology leaders at this crucial time of change in China and in the global economy," said Time Inc. Chief Content Officer Alan Murray.

"Guangzhou has been a center for international commerce for centuries, and Guangdong Province has become the locus for Chinese innovation," he noted, adding that "these two events will bring top business leaders from all over the world to Guangzhou, give them an opportunity to discuss and debate the next critical phase of globalization, and expose them to the most exciting developments in Chinese technology and innovation."
